"MOVERS SCAM ALERT" Part 1
My Move was from Brampton to Ottawa. After many calls and quotes I settle with All Canada Movers which transferred me to NK Movers. That call with All Canada Movers was on the 23 October, 2021 and the person directly connected me to NK Movers. I was asked by the person name Sagar who answered the call if I had a previous quote and I told him that $3000.00 was given to me and that was too much. He ask how many rooms and I told him it was only one bedroom apartment that consist of a small kitchen, dining room, living room and one bedroom. I told them they would need a dolly for my stand up freezer and tool to take my table legs apart.
He told me to give him some time and he would call me back with a quote which he did one hour later. He quote me for 11 hours for 2 men (From Brampton to Ottawa back to Brampton) 5 and half hours trip each way and equipment rentals plus 2 days storing. My move was schedule for October 29 after paying the initial $100.00 to secure my time and date. On the 29 they wanted the full amount or the movers was not going to come so I paid them through e-transfer. All the boxes was put in one room to ease the move.
I ask multiple times if that woud be my only charge and he said yes that there was NO HIDDEN FEE and that they have experience guys to do the job. Feeling like I go a good deal I agree and went forward with the movers.
After they where paid in full, the time was change multiple times and all of a sudden they could not deliver my items and possessions before Wednesday the 3, November which should of been deliver on November 1. The movers arrived a hour late, took them half hours to figure out what room to start with, then one of them spent most of his time on his cell and sitting on the floor wrapping my items with cellophane (Large Saran wrap) They had no bubble wrap, they did not have enough blankets to cover my furniture's and had to lend them a few of my own blankets, they did not bring the dolly I had requested and they ended up dragging my freezer across the apartment floor, no tool to dismantle my table they drag it across the floor as well as my two queens sizes mattress with no protection.
They piled up my items and furniture's in the lobby of my apartment building and my superintendent kept calling me and advising that they where mishandling my belonging and that he wanted the items removes from the lobby. They did not comply with his request. I only had the elevator for 3 hours but they arrived late and finish late. Note: their is only 1 elevator in that building. I also have 3 witness to the event. After they had possession of my items the price change and more than double. Now if I wanted the return of them I would have to pay what they where asking for.
I refuse and told them that it was not the initial pricing I was giving . I was expecting a small fee but not what I was presented with, and made a complaint to the Competition Bureau and the Consumer Protection Branch in Ontario. (Attached as well)
Chain of events between me and All Canada Movers and NK movers
On the 23 October 2021 I called All Canada Movers and they directly transferred my call to NK Movers.
On November 25 they requested a $100.00 deposit to secure the move then they sent me the invoiced that said that the move reflected the charge and there was no hidden cost.
My total was 2,187.60 minus $200.00 was my discount, my total would be $1,987.60 which I e-transfer the money to NK Movers on Oct 29 2021@3:18 pm. That same day on Oct 29 they went and charge my credit card for another $1987.60 by stating they did not received my e-transfer. That demand came at 5:46 pm after sending them proof that they did in fact receive my e-transfer.
@ around 8:00 pm that is when my credit card company notified me. That is even after I sent them a confirmation that the money was deposited successfully in the NK Movers account.
On Monday I called the credit card company and put a block on my credit card and by Friday they reversed the charge after calling them on Sunday the 31 Oct 2021 and sent them an email on Nov 1, 2021 to show my displeasure.
On Oct 30 Sent me a invoice stating I owed them $45.41
Nov 2, 2021 send me another bill for $2,554.23
On Nov 3, 2021 they sent a amendment bill for $1,740.20
They call numerous times to put pressure on me and extort more money and uses burners phones(not the company line, I assume since nothing would show up in my caller ID callers)
And they left a voicemail with a insane amount which is included in this communication
Now they won't release my belonging or my items until I pay what they are trying to extort since my invoice was paid in full before hand.
Result: I had to live with my son partner for 3 weeks until I can get my furniture and items back which till this date I still have not received and had to buy a set of clothing since I only brought a couple of set to hold me until the movers arrived and at least a chair and a small bed with lamps for now so I can move in my apartment in Ottawa.
I also retain a lawyer to try and retrieve my belonging with no result for now since NK Movers will not move from their position and neither will I.
Also attach is the many complaints made against this company from the BBB and Yap , This company is located in many location in the GTA and surroundings.

Best Regards, NK Movers. They where dishonest, misleading and they play with words with their invoices and this need to stop. Goverment should licenses these moving companies and should be held to the highest honor and spell out the term of the contract or else people will be paying outrageous fees just to have their belonging return since this company keep using "estimate" on every billing sent. Moving is stressful enough but to have to live in a empty and echoing apartment with just a few items is causing anxiety and stress not knowing if I will ever see my furniture's, clothing and items that I have collected over the years. First should come the estimate, then the quote then the invoice follow by the receipt. My son has a bookeeper said this is how it should be done. |
